It took me one hour to hike up the slot canyon trail to the scenic overlook, but i stopped many times to take photos.

One of the most popular in our area is the tent rocks in santa fe! This three mile loop through a slot canyon with hoodos and striated rock formations is a religious site of the cochiti pueblo. This area is recognized as the ancestral homelands of the cochiti and is managed today in close cooperation with the pueblo.
Tent rocks canyon is a rare new mexico slot carved in 1,000 feet of ash, tuff and pumice of volcanic activity. If you do the whole trail, which you will want to combine with the canyon loop trail, it will be a little under 5 miles total. There are a few step ups, but nothing technical. It never becomes so narrow you have to squeeze through any rocks. If in doubt, just go as far as you feel comfortable.

Found in the canyon are small rounded balls of obsidian (volcanic glass.also known as 'apache tears') which are further evidence of the mighty geologic forces that have shaped this area. You'll experience elevation changes of about 839 feet throughout. The slot canyon trail is worth hiking.
There are two clearly marked hiking paths. There are railroad ties to make steps to get to the top where you can see for miles. It's an accessible trail that gives you incredible rewards with little effort.
Head to northern new mexico for a slot canyon served with a side of extra hoodoos.
